MQM USA Congratulates Mr. Altaf Hussain and the MQM Parliamentarians
on the passage of the Women’s Protection Bill and termed it as a first
step in a long journey to protect women’s rights. MQM USA’s central
organizer and the members of the
central organizing committee have extended their
heartiest congratulations to MQM founder and
leader Mr. Altaf Hussain, MQM parliamentarians
and the coalition Government for their hectic
efforts in getting the Women Rights Hudood Bill
passed by the parliament.
MQM USA demanded the government to also bring
more legislation for protecting the rights of
women to remove all those injustices prevailing
in the society to end injustices being meted out
to women in the name of un-Islamic practices
like Vani (the custom of giving away female
relatives to resolve disputes), marriage with
the Qur’aan (usually with the intent of avoiding
property inheritance), Vata-Sata (exchange of
marriages) and triple Talaq (verbal utterance of
divorce).
Terming it a historic moment in building a
progressive society, MQM USA statement said the
passage of the Women Protection Bill in the
National Assembly would empower and protect
oppressed women against injustices by the Feudal
and the so-called Mullahs. |

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi.
The committee is headed by senior MQM member
Ibad U. Rehman and includes a team of senior

Organizer Ajaz Siddiqi and the members of the
Central Organizing Committee together with the
Philadelphia unit incharge and members of the
unit committee have urged all MQM members and
supporters to pray for the early recovery of Mr.
Farasat Ali Farooqi in Pakistan. Mr. Farasat
Farooqi is the father of MQM Philadelphia unit
committee member Ammar Farooqi bhai, he suffered
a heart stroke yesterday and is being treated at
a local hospital in Karachi.
MQM USA also prays for the early recovery of NY
unit’s senior member Farooq Kamal bhai’s wife as
well as his mother-in-law who are being treated
in a local hospital in Karachi due to severe
health problems. |

Houston Unit Condemn
Assassination Attempt on Quaid-e-Tahrek
In an emergency meeting of all party workers,
sympathizers and the office bearer of the MQM Houston
unit, which was held on Monday July 03, 2006 strongly
condemned the assassination attempt on Quaid-e-Tahrek,
Friday, 30 June 2006. Unit in-charge Mohammed Zaheer
Bhai demanded from the government of United Kingdom and
from the government of Pakistan to initiate high level
investigation to find the out real motives behind this
assassination attempt. At the end of the meeting a dua’
was conducted by Hafiz Salman Bhai for the long life of
Quaid-e-Tahrek. Earlier on Friday, June 30th 2006, a
bearded black person broke in to the MQM Office in
London and almost reached the personal meeting room of
Quaid-e-Tahrek where MQM founder and leader Altaf
Hussein Bhai narrowly survived the assassination attempt
. It must be noted that Quaid-e-Tahrek was due to arrive
at the International Secretariat to meet his guests but
changed his program for some reason. In this manner and
as a result of prayers from mothers, sisters, elders and
workers he survived the potential assassination attempt.
The MQM Coordination Committee has appealed to the
workers to offer Namaz-e-Shukrana. |
