INDO-PAK SERIES MUSHAARAH AT NEW YORK—A MEGA SUCCESS AGAIN! (July-10-07)
Picking up an early schedule on the very first weekend of the series without
the backup of proper advertisement on TV and newspapers, was a difficult task
indeed, but New York passed the test. The 3rd Indo-Pak Yakjahti series Mushaarah
at New York on last Saturday stood out to be a mega success event in which local
poets of New York and guest poets lured and amused the cross section of the
community for more than four hours, who packed the auditorium of a local school
up to the possible inch.
Although the local poets were also applauded for their poetry, the fervor, zeal,
and vehemence of the audience was worth watching when the guest poets from
Pakistan and India were reciting their “Kalaam”. While Mr. Mohsin Ahsan from
Pakistan and Mr. Mairaj Faizabadi from India were also heard with literary
enthusiasm, worth mentioning was the performance of Mr. Wasim Barelvi who was
hardly permitted to leave the dais by the audience at 2:30 am only because of
the shortage of time. Another feature of the event was the launching of the new
collection of verses of Mr. Wasim Barelvi “MERA KIYA” which was performed by
Patron in Chief of Gahwarah e Adab USA and Nigran e Aala MQM North America Dr.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. All guest poets lauded the efforts of Gahwarah e Adab
in the cause of propagation of Urdu poetry and literature and ultimately saving
the values and traditions of Urdu speaking community.
