MQM USA Observes Yaum-e- Saug (the Day of
Mourning)
Chapters Hold Rallies, Public gatherings, and Quran Khwani (Recitation of
Holy Quran)
Communication & Media Cell, MQM USA; Los Angeles; July 05, 2010: The Day of Mourning (Yaum-e-Saug) was observed on Saturday July 3rd, 2010 by MQM USA on the call of the leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain to denounce the incident of the bomb attack on the shrine of Data Ganj Bakhsh in Lahore, commonly known as Data Darbar, the other day. The Chapters and Wings of MQM USA partook in the observance of the Day by holding peaceful rallies, demonstrations, public gatherings, and Quran Khwanis (recitation of Holy Quran) in the major cities throughout USA. The major rallies and public gatherings were held in Washington DC, New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago and Houston. In Washington DC the office-bearers and workers of MQM Washington DC gathered in large number to hold a large scale demonstration at a busy public place. The participants of the demonstration/rally were holding banners and placards bearing slogans against the inhuman incident at Data Darbar. The participants also demanded the perpetrators to be brought to justice. Similarly in Detroit, Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago, the office bearers and workers of the local Chapter of MQM USA gathered along with the supporters of MQM USA and held rallies/demonstrations to denounce the ugly incident of bomb attack at Data Darbar. The participants of the rallies were holding banners and placards bearing the slogans to condemn the attack. They also offered prayers for the victims of the incident. The speakers at the rallies said that the terrorism has seeped into the fibers and mesh of the society in Pakistan, and the innocent people are being killed just for the petty interests of the few. They all demanded that the culprits be brought to justice immediately. In the meantime, in almost all of the Chapters of MQM USA, the workers and office bearers gathered to hold Quran Khwani (recitation of Holy Quran) to offer prayers for the victims of the incident.
