MQM USA meets with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz in New
York. Mr. Aziz is visiting USA to attend a United Nations conference where he
invited MQM and the PML for a meeting to discuss national and global issues. MQM
Foreign Relation wing’s vice coordinator Muhammad Younus, MQM North America’s
caretaker Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, MQM USA’s Central Organizer,
Joint Organizer Farhat Khan, members of the central Organizing Committee, unit members from
South Florida, Washington DC,
Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco,
members of MQM USA Youth Wing, members of MQM Women wing and the members of MQM
Business Relations and Investment wing were the part of the delegation meeting
with the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was accompanied by federal Ministers Tariq Azeem,
Shamim Siddiqui, Raza Hiraj, Ms. Nilofar Bakhtiar and Omer Ayub as well as
Ambassador General Mahmood Durrani and Consulate General New York Mr. Sahukat
Haroon were also present at the occasion.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz while talking to MQM and the PML said Pakistan
government has been taking measures to promote political system and culture in
the country for strengthening democratic process. The Prime Minister further
said democratic institutions are working in the country and expressed the hope
that the present assembly will complete its tenure for the first time in the
parliamentary history of the country.
The Prime Minister urged everyone to work with national zeal and enthusiasm
through inculcating unity among their ranks to project Pakistan’s point of view
in a true perspective and for progress and prosperity of the country. He said,
“First you are Pakistani, work for national interest, beyond political disputes
and differences.”
The Prime Minister said, “As coalition partners, we should work together, then
we can build a stronger and prosperous Pakistan and face the challenges.”
Appreciating the contribution and support of the MQM USA to extend help and
assistance after October 8th earthquake, the Prime Minister said it provided a
chance to the people to unite their efforts for helping their brothers affected
by the natural tragedy.
MQM USA thanked Prime Minister for his invitation for meeting and also thanked
him for his direct assistance to MQM in arranging PIA’s chartered flights for
carrying relief goods to Pakistan. MQM USA brought up the KESC issue and asked
the Prime Minister to look into this matter more closely as all other
progressive work put on by the local Government in Karachi could be destroyed if
there’s no electricity available to meet the city’s needs.
MQM USA apprised the Prime Minister of its efforts in bringing foreign
investments to Pakistan including a university project, call centers and an
American bank to invest in real estate sector. Prime Minister Aziz thanked MQM
USA and directed Federal Minister Shamim siddiqui to coordinate with the
American Investors to facilitate these investment proposals.
