Chicago Chapter organized a mega event involving a barbeque and the
Khursheed Begum Memorial Cricket Tournament on July 5th at Bolingbrook
Elementary School. The party is one of the regular annual features of the
Chicago Chapter that has become legendary in the community.
Five teams participated in the tournament including the Bolingbrook Eleven
led by Captain Meer Ali, The Richmond Eleven led by Captain Atif, The
Midwest Eleven led by Captain Asif Waheed, The Chicago Chapter Eleven led by
Captain Sohail Shams, and The Players Eleven led by Captain Siddiqui.
Travel Mart sponsored the tournament and there was great excitement in the
air. All the players sported full-multicolored T-shirts and track suits
provided by Travel Mart. The event was played in a friendly manner and with
sportsmanship and camaraderie. MQM Chicago Chapter arranged the BBQ and food
for all the spectators and approximately three hundred families enjoyed the
tournament. Although the kids enjoyed tennis and basketball, the main
attraction was a 30 foot climbing wall that was specially installed for this
event.
Talat Rasheed along with his son Faisal Rasheed were greatly appreciated for
their hard work and cooperation. The Bolingbrook Eleven graciously won the
tournament. Man of the Match was awarded to Irfan Gul of Chicago Chapter
Eleven and Abdul Rehman of Bolingbrook Eleven. The Bolingbrook Eleven won
the Khursheed Begum Memorial Cricket Tournament Award. Midwest Eleven
received the runner-up position.
A lucky draw was announced at the end of the event and was awarded to Imran
Rasheed. Sohail Shams of MQM Chicago Chapter announced the winning team and
the players at the end of the match. The Land & Planning Commissioner from
City of Bolingbrook Mr. Talat Rasheed, MQM International Affair’s Muhammad
Younus, and MQM USA Joint Organizer Junaid Fahmi distributed the prizes.
Hundreds of community members, supporters, workers, chapter members,
doctors, attorneys, businessmen, intellectuals and media representatives
attended the festive event.
