HISTORY IN THE MAKING – WASHINGTON DC UNIT TO LAUNCH THE FIRST EVER APMSO IN THE UNITED STATES AT GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA.(May-04-2004)

A historic step is being taken by the Washington DC unit, as it plans to launch the first ever American-Pakistani Muttahida Students Organization “APMSO” at the George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Unit committee member Navaid Hussain along with GMU student Faisal Usmani are jointly coordinating this effort with the guidance of the Washington DC unit. Talks are already underway with many students at the University and final preparations will be made after an in-depth meeting with the MQM USA’s Central Organizer and members of the Central Organizing Committee. The Washington DC unit also plans to meet with a Pakistani teachers’ delegation currently in the United States to further enhance cooperation between Pakistani students in the U.S. and students in Pakistan.

In connection with this historic step, the Washington DC unit met with over 100 students representing the Pakistan Students Association (PSA) from around the country, who were gathered in Washington DC in an effort to unify all PSA’s under one mother organization. Also in attendance was Pakistan Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Mohammad Sadiq who deeply appreciated all the students’ participation in promoting the culture of Pakistan and it’s heritage.

During their conversations with members of the Pakistan Students Association, unit committee member Navaid Hussain and unit in-charge Amir Siddiqui confirmed that although the APMSO would be a separate entity, it would work closely with the PSA to promote the interests of Pakistan. The remarks were well appreciated by the students and they wished the Washington DC unit the best of luck.
