Washington DC Chapter organized an Annual Picnic involving a barbeque and
the Khursheed Begum Memorial Cricket Tournament at Burke Lake Park right at
the shore of the Lake. The picnic is one of the regular annual features of
the Washington DC Chapter that has become legendary in the community.
Desi Bazar and Little Italian Restaurant sponsored the event and there was
great excitement in the air. The Cricket was played in a friendly manner and
with sportsmanship as usual. MQM Washington DC Chapter arranged the BBQ and
food for all the spectators and approximately two hundred families enjoyed
the picnic despite of heavy rain and thunderstorm. Although the kids enjoyed
swings and slides and Volleyball, the main attraction was a almost 100 foot
rainbow that came into being right adjacent to Picnic Shelter, almost
everyone captured this attractive and rare image.
The Chapter Committee members were greatly appreciated for their hard work
and cooperation by all the attendees. A live broadcast of the event on Dunya
Radio was also very exciting segment.
Isra baji on behalf of women's wing distributed the goody bags and prizes
among the children. Hundreds of community members, supporters, workers,
chapter members, doctors, attorneys, businessmen, intellectuals and media
representatives attended the festive event.
