MQM Washington unit women wing has celebrated a combination of
events including world women day, MQM's 23rd foundation day, passage of women
protection bill and awarding of Human Rights Award to MQM USA by State of
Virginia.
Event was arranged at Northern Virginia University and was attended by people
from all walks of life. Representatives of almost all Pakistani media were also
there to cover this event. Ms. Aliya Sheikh has conducted the event whereas Ms.
Shaheen Sabih, Ms. Nishat Ali and Ms. Amber Hameed have delivered speeches
highlighting plight of women and MQM's practical actions to protect women rights
in Pakistan. A slide show was presented by Ms. Bushra Rehman which has shown
some historical photographs covering women's role in MQM's struggle.
An award of appreciation was given to MQM USA's central organizer Ajaz Siddiqi
bhai on behalf of the Pakistani community living in Washington Metro area. Ajaz
Siddiqi bhai thanked women wing and dedicated his award to Quaid-e-Tehreek Altaf
Hussain bhai and his workers. In the end the cake cutting ceremony was performed
by the women wing to celebrate MQM's 23rd foundation day. Event ended with the
Haleem dinner.
