Washington DC unit of MQM USA celebrated an evening with Senior Deputy
Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Dr. Farooq Sattar, on Wednesday, October
24th, 2007.
Event started and hosted by Mr. Kamran Haider. The event was transformed into a
Media Press Conference with the participation of distinguished Pakistani and
International journalists from Dawn, The News/Jang, Washington Times, Voice of
America and known local Newspapers. Despite of stormy rain and bad traffic
conditions, program started on time at 8:30 PM with Quranic recitation by Mr.
Syed Hafeez-ul-Haq. Unit Incharge, Misbah Basit & Member Central Committee,
Sabihul Islam, thanked the attendees for their participation and workers for
their diligent work to arrange and manage this event on such a short notice.
Care taker MQM USA, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Central Organizer Mr. Ajaz
Siddiqui, Members of Central Committee from Pennsylvania and Maryland Mr.
Mahfooz Hydari and Mr. Arshad Hussain, Incharge Advisory Committee Mr. Ibad Ur
Rehman were among the distinguished guests. Approximately 100 guests from
Washington metro area along with members of other units attended the event.
After the speech of Key note speaker, Dr. Farooq Sattar, a warm interactive
session of questions & answers about the current Pakistani political turmoil,
law and order situation after May 12th incident in Karachi were a major part of
the questions. Dr. Farooq Sattar in his usual low tone and selected few words,
successfully made everyone realized that the incident of May 12th was a planned
conspiracy against the people of Karachi and MQM was a Victim not a Perpetrator.
In an answer to a question about the recent attack on him from lawyers. He said
that some lawyers are trying to derail Lawyer's movement for the restoration of
"Freedom of Court" and "Democracy". Attendees' took photos with the chief guest
and program was successfully concluded around 9:45PM.
