Meet the Press in Washington DC with Dr. Farooq Sattar, Federal Minister of
overseas Pakistanis
Communication & Media Cell, MQM USA, Washington DC; Feb 5th 2012: Washington DC chapter of MQM USA organized a program “Meet the Press” with Dr. Farooq Sattar, the Federal Minister of overseas Pakistanis and parliamentary leader of MQM in Pakistan. A large number of local journalists of electronic and print media showed up to meet Dr. Farooq Sattar.

America Ibad Rehman, Tauseef Khan, member of central organizing committee,
Pakistani business community, workers of local chapter and a large number of
women from women wing were present in the program.
The Federal Minister Dr. Farooq Sattar highlighted the current situation of
Pakistan while saying that MQM has the real solutions for the issues
revolving around Pakistan.
Dr. Sattar said that there has never been any real democratic system in Pakistan and characterized the previous setups as martial laws or feudocracy. He said that only masses can send the real people in the parliament and the people from grass root level can only bring the real change in Pakistan.
While answering the
questions to journalists he said that overseas Pakistanis are the assets of
Pakistan and their money is the backbone of Pakistani economy. Now the
overseas Pakistanis have right to vote and this credit of change goes to MQM.
He emphasized on the right of contesting in the election while saying that
if they have right to vote why can’t they contest in the election to work
for their motherland?
He said while answering a question that he has plan to discuss the issue of
Pakistani Americans facing problems while getting visa for India with
foreign ministry of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan is going through tough times; on one hand there’s a
vision for Jinnah’s Pakistan and on the other is Baitullah Mehsud’s ideology
that has been imposed on millions on Pakistanis.
He emphasized on Pakistanis living in USA that “regardless of State’s
relations with Obama’s America, you the Pakistanis living here should
establish strong relationship with “Bill Gates’ America” to generate new IT
jobs in Pakistan. He added that Pakistan’s situation is like hardware that
has lost its software. “We need a policy that could empower 98 percent of
the population. There’s a need for a democratic Pakistan.”
In the beginning of the program the patron of
North America Ibad Rehman welcomed the journalists and briefly highlighted
the activities of the federal minister Dr. Farooq Sattar’s activities in USA
during his visit.
