Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee organizes the first annual haleem party in Washington DC. (March 6th, 2005)

March 6th, 2005 – Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee, under the auspices of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Washington DC, has organized it’s first annual haleem party in the remembrance of Syed Imam Hussain (Radi Allah Unhu), his family, and all the Martyrs of Karbala. The event started off with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Nadeem Qasmi, followed by Hamd-o-Naat. A Noha was read by Mr. Khurram Yousaf Zai to honor the Martyrs of Karbala. The event also featured the renowned Alim Dr. Zafar Iqbal Noori, who preached the importance of the Holy month of Muharram, the sacrifices given by Hazrat Imam Hussain (Radi Allah Unhu), his family, and his companions. Dr. Noori also emphasized the significance of serving haleem during the Ashura period and the setting up of Sabeels in various places to quench ones thirst in remembrance of the Karbala Martyrs. The program concluded with a speech given by MQM USA Nigran-e-Alaa Uncle Riaz Siddiqui on the performance and history of the KKC in Pakistan and throughout the world. Uncle Riaz also briefed the guests on KKC’s efforts in raising millions of rupees for the Tsunami Relief fund.
The event was attended by over 150 people, which included members of the Pakistan community, officials from the Pakistan embassy, business leaders, and journalists. Also on hand were MQM USA Central Organizer Ibad-ur-Rehman, Central Organizing Committee members Ajaz Siddiqui, Sabih-uh-Islam, and former Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Mateen Yousuf. At the end of the program, MQM Washington DC Unit-In Charge, Amir Siddiqui thanked all those who were in attendance and encouraged them to fully support the KKC and the MQM so it can continue it’s efforts to serve the nation. Amir Siddiqui also thanked all MQM DC unit workers for their hard work in organizing a successful event. The guests lauded the efforts of the KKC and assured it’s members of their support. While walking out of the event, the guests were given haleem to take home with them to share with their loved ones, which was greatly appreciated.
