Dallas Showed Its Love for
Poetry. A Historical Mushira Sets New Standards.(July-08-2004)
This Mushaira was the first ever event organized by Gehwar-e-Adab (Dallas)
and was truly a historical and trend setter event in Dallas Fort worth area. It
was held in the auditorium of Fun Asia, a well known place of Indian-Pakistani
community gatherings. The stage was beautifully decorated with Pencil sketches
of legendry Urdu poets drawn by great Urdu Enthusiast of Dallas Fort worth (DFW)
Late Sufi Fazl- ur-Rehman Kauser Niazi father of Nazim-e-Mushaira Mrs. Najma
Ghouse. Mrs. Najma Ghouse.began the Mushaira by briefly describing the history
of Gahwara-e-adab and inviting local poets. It was a jam packed event, people
were sitting on the floors after all the seat were occupied. Mr. Younus Aijaz, a
well know poet, presided Mushira whereas Dr. Khalid Maqbool Sidiqui was the
Chief Guest of the event. Local poets who recited were Naheed Shad, Mughni Raza,
Masood Qazi, Noor Amroohvi, and Sarwar Alam Raz. Famous Pakistan TV artist
Mazhar Ali was warmly welcomed by crowd. Mazhar Ali presented his poetry and it
was well regarded by the audience. Anwar Jalalpuri performed the Nizamat for
last half of the Mushaira. Audience loved his unique style of Nizamat and
adorable Urdu. Audience loved the poetry of Dr. Rahat Indori and Manzar Bhopali.
People applauded them on each and every SHAIR. Surjeet Singh Lanmba, a well
known author of Book on Seert-un-Nabi (PBUH) from India presented a Naa't. It
was a historical Mushaira. An elderly poetry lover who resides in DFW for more
than 35 years said, "I have never seen such a beautiful, well organized and jam
packed Mushaira in DFW history." Several Mushaira Organizing Societies have
approached Gehwar-e-adab (Dallas) and requested to help them organize their
Mushaira events. Unit Incharge Kamran Khan and his committee congratulated
Gahwara-e-Adab team for organizing this successful and historical Mushaira.
