Muttahida Qaumi Movement USA (MQM USA) has celebrated Qarardad-e-Pakistan and
hosted a reception dinner in Edison, NJ for the newly appointed Consul General
of the Pakistani Consulate in New York to celebrate. Mr. Mohsin Razi arrived in
New York from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, where he was serving
as the Director General, National Authority & Disarmament Cell. He has a
distinguished career and has held official foreign office appointments all
across the world. MQM USA's caretaker Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi, MQM USA
central coordinator Mr. Ejaz Siddiqi, central committee member Mahfooz hydiri,
Khalida Shuja baji, Arshad Hussain , MQM USA (MQF) in charge Huda Khan, Advisory
counsel member Ibad ur Rehman as well as visiting North Nazimabad, Karachi,
Naib-Nazim Mr. Ahsan-ullah-khan and Tayyab Hussain hosted the consul general.
Members of MQM USA's New Jersey unit and visiting members of MQM USA's
Philadelphia and New York units, along
with distinguished community guests were in attendance.
A number of issues were discussed including the performance of the Pakistani
consulate, different ways how the consulate can benefit the expatriate Pakistani
American community, and the recently introduced Machine Readable Passports (MRPs)
which are being issued in conformity with the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) standards. Mr. Mohsin Razi informed the attendees that the
existing manual passports will expire by 2010 and will finally be replaced by
the Machine Readable Passports. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply for
the Machine Readable Passports instead of the Manual Passports. MQM USA speakers
assured the Consul General of their continued support to the Consulate and Mr.
Mohsin Raza in return pledged his cooperation to MQM USA as well as to all of
the attendees.
