| On Saturday 18th of December, MQM USA NJ unit organized and
conducted an awareness and memorial event to highlight the continuing
humanitarian crises that the Stranded Pakistanis are facing and have been
facing for more than 30 years now. The participants were informed of the
current situation, a video documentary of the camps was showed, and a number
of speeches were made to emphasize the role that MQM has played in trying to
get these Stranded Pakistanis resettled in Pakistan. The MQM USA NJ unit
also invited a number of humanitarian and international aid organizations to
participate and is following up with them to improve the situation in the
camps. The participants were also reminded of the sacrifices made by the
close family members of Qaid-e-Tehreek Altaf Hussain. Inshallah, with the
help of aid agencies, MQM USA and KKF is exploring avenues to assist the
inhabitants of the camps both politically and on a humanitarian basis. |
