MQM USA's Central Organizer Ajaz Siddiqi called a nationwide telephonic meeting in which over 20 stations participated to review ongoing relief activities of MQM for the victims of Katrina Hurricane. Relief efforts coordinator Ibad U. Rehman presented a detailed overview of the relief activities in various units of the MQM United States. According to the report collected from the MQM units coast to coast, over 1000 people are provided shelter at the "Camp Altaf Hussain" in Houston and a daily expense of thousands of dollars is taken up by the local unit. Eight trucks full of medicines, drinking water, canned foods, baby formulas, toys and blankets have already been en-route to their destinations. MQM Relief camps have been setup at four different locations in Houston and one location each in Saint Louis, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Delaware and New Jersey. According to initial calculations over $50,000 worth of donations are already collected on top of thousands of dollars worth of relief goods. Central Organizer Ajaz Siddiqi appreciated the efforts put on by MQM USA workers and instructed them to be more aggressive in the upcoming week.
 Voice of America’s World Service to Broadcast Coverage on MQM USA’s Relief Efforts.
The Voice of America’s World Service is broadcasting a series of interviews for the next three days covering and highlighting the mega relief drive by the MQM USA to aid the victims of deadly hurricane Katrina. This coverage include an opening interview with MQM USA’s Katrina Relief Coordinator Ibad U. Rehman followed by an interview with MQM Houston’s incharge Zaheer Khan and an interview with Councilman Masroor Javed Khan. During these interviews a detailed description of the relief efforts was given and the MQM USA officials summarized the relief structure and activities throughout the USA. Whereas Councilman M. J Khan stated in detail the efforts made by him with the help of MQM USA to house over 250 families in Houston’s “Camp Altaf Hussain” shelter facility.
