5Th Semi-Annual Convention

March 16-17, 2007 - Atlanta, Georgia


Muttahida Quaomi Movement (MQM), the party of the righteous, organized its 5Th semi-annual convention at the birth place of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Atlanta; a city that hosted Olympic Games in 1996 and famous for CNN headquarters.  The convention was arranged inside the Global Mall, the biggest South-Asian community mall in south eastern United States, located on famous Jimmy Carter blvd in Norcross; fifteen miles north of downtown Atlanta. 

The convention was formally inaugurated on Friday night by Nigran-e-Alla, MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while Central Organizers MQM USA Ajaz Siddiqi described the agenda for the next days program.  In-charge host unit, MQM Atlanta Unit Nadeem Siddiqui welcomed the distinguished delegates from all around the United States.  After the dinner the delegates burned the midnight oil and participated in informal discussions.

On Saturday, the first session was an organizational session attended (exclusively) by the MQM delegates.  In this session, MQM USAs Central Organizing Committee members Farhat Khan, Moeed Siddiqui, Kamal Zafar, Arshad Hussain and Mahfooz Hydari gave updates on areas of their responsibility.  Afterwards, all units and subsidiaries of MQM USA submitted their reports.  Central Organizer MQM USA Ajaz Siddiqi gave his feedback on the reports, analyzed the overall performance of MQM in USA, and set forth the future expectations.  Nigran-e-Alla, MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui gave his speech on the importance of the work MQM is doing in America.  He also presented vision for 2007 and opened the floor for discussion for all the participants. The Q&A session continued during the working lunch.

The evening session, which was open for public, was attended by huge number of people from all walks of life including teachers, professors, doctors, engineers, and other professionals with families. Central Organizer MQM USA Ajaz Siddiqi formally announced the Atlanta Unit Committee which includes Mr. Nadeem Siddiqui (Unit In-charge), Saqib Mohiuddin (Joint Unit In-charge), Hasib Khan (member), and Mustafa Siddiqui (member).   On this occasion Nigran-e-Alla, MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui cut the cake to celebrate MQMs 23rd foundation day.  The evening session concluded at musical night after the dinner in which local band performed and amused the audience.
