PAKISTANI HIGH COMMISSIONER IN BRITAIN AND CHAIRMAN NRB MET WITH MR ALTAF HUSSAIN IN LONDON
London – 17th July 2008…Mr Wajid Shamsul Hasan, the Pakistani High Commissioner in Britain, and Dr Asim, Chairman National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB), met with Mr Altaf Hussain, MQM Founder & Leader, at the MQM International Secretariat in London. The meeting continued for four hours and leaders discussed conspiracy of Talibanisation in Pakistan, rapidly deteriorating situation in the tribal areas, threats of US and NATO attacks on Pakistan, mounting threats on our borders, the current political instability in the country and economic crises. Mr Hussain said that Pakistan is today faced with a critical situation, local and foreign threats; and this is a direct result of imprudent policies of the Establishment of the past. In the past, religious extremism was spread and promoted according to a plan and the nation’s youth was motivated for terrorism in the name of jihad. As a result of the continued terrorism in tribal areas and the rapidly deteriorating situation, the threats at the country’s borders has increased manifold. God forbidden, if the US or NATO forces carry out attack then it will be very detrimental for Pakistan. In such precarious conditions we must take serious note of the situation and remain politically aware. The Pakistani High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hasan and Chairman NRB Dr Asim agreed with Mr Hussain and said that all the political and religious parties should demonstrate unity and harmony as this is the need of time.
