The People of Karachi are Being Punished for the Sins They Have Not Committed

MQM Feels Itself Duty-bound to Save the Lives and Assets of the people of Karachi and the Country:

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Speaking to a Condemnation Meeting in New York on “Karachi Mishap”

Communication & Media Cell, MQM USA; New York; January 04, 2010: The people of Karachi are being punished under a planned conspiracy for the sins they have not committed; however MQM deems itself duty-bound to safeguard the lives and interests of the people of Karachi and the country. This was said by the former federal minister and the Patron-in-Chief of MQM North America while addressing to a condemnation meeting in New York on “Karachi Mishap” held by Karachi Club New York on Sunday the last. The condemnation meeting which was attended by a cross section of the Pakistani community in New York was also attended by the entrepreneurs of Karachi and the representatives of Memon community residing in New York. The former federal minister was very astringent while commenting on the recent Mishap of Karachi on the Day of Ashur Procession on December 27, 2009 which cost dozens of lives and a full scale ransack of the largest metropolis of Pakistan and said that the financial destruction on such a large scale in minutes after the suicidal attack on the procession is vividly explicit of the fact that the reason of this ransacking was not to stage a protest; it shows a planned conspiracy to paralyze the financial system of Karachi which is also the financial aortic arch of the whole country. Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui further said that at the time when the mobsters were looting and burning the financial hub of Karachi Police and other law enforcing personnel were watching it all as they were watching a play and this is a sheer criminal negligence on the part of these people. It also shows that they were not only aware of the plot, they were also had instructions to let it be completed without any interference from the management. He added that the people of Karachi are being punished for the sins they have not committed; however, he said that the greatest sin of the people of Karachi has always been their loyalty to the country and this is the only reason they get targeted over and over again. He said that the repercussions of any incident anywhere in the country manifest over Karachi and the people of Karachi pay for that even if they were not a part of that. He gave the example of the assassination of Ms. Benazir Bhutto. He said that Mohtarama was assassinated in Rawalpindi but repercussion reflected in Karachi when banks were looted, ATM machines were broken, shop were set on fire, cars were set ablaze, and even people were burned to death alive. He said that the people of Karachi by no means are ready to accept that these heinous crimes were committed by the mourners of Imam Hussain or Benazir Bhutto in the wake of protest as the mourners don’t loot or ransack; they stage protest. The Patron-in-Chief of MQM North America also said that the monster of Taliban and Talibanization were repeatedly being warned of by the leader of MQM Altaf Hussain to the Pakistani authorities and had the proper measures been taken to curb it in the beginning the people of Pakistan would not have been facing the worst face of terrorism. He said that the bomb blasts all over the country and the most recent incident of Lucky Merwat, and all incidents of terrorism can be connected to Talibans and their activities. The former federal minister reiterated that MQM holds itself duty-bound to save the lives, assets, and interests of the people of Karachi and all parts of the country and it will leave no stone unturned to accomplish its determination. In the meantime the President of Karachi Club New York Aslam Baig and other speakers denounced the recent mishap of Karachi in its strongest terms and demanded of the highest ranking officials of Pakistan for a judicial inquiry into the incident. In the meeting the Karachi Club of New York, representatives of the other organizations, and the entrepreneurs of Karachi in New York passed a resolution in which the meeting demanded for a high level probe into the incident, rehabilitation of the affected entrepreneurs, and recruitment of natives in Karachi Police.
