MQM Chicago Observes the Day of Mourning for the Victims of the Suicidal Attack on Chehlum (Religious) Procession in Karachi

Communication & Media Cell, MQM USA; Chicago; Feb 10, 2010: MQM Chicago held a meeting last week to observe the Day of Mourning (Yaum-e-Sog) for the victims of the suicidal bomb blast and attack on the Chehlum procession (religious ritual) in Karachi on January 28, this year. The meeting was attended by the Joint Central Organizer Junaid Fahmi, Patron MQM Chicago Wakeel Jamali, and office bearers and workers of MQM Chicago. The meeting was opened by the Chapter Incharge Sohail Shams. In his address Sohail Shams was strongly critical of the everyday terrorist activities in Karachi. He also strongly condemned the bomb blast and attack on a religious procession and said that these type of incidents show that the perpetrators have no respect even for religion and religious rituals. The Patron MQM Chicago said in his address that those who are trying to promote sectarianism in Karachi will fail in their efforts as MQM will not let this happen. He also said that the loss of innocent lives without any cause is deeply saddening for anyone who has a heart. The Joint Central Organizer Junaid Fahmi said during his address that the terrorist activities in Karachi are on the rise and the aim of these activities is to undo all the efforts MQM has put in for the development of the financial, economic, and social capital of the country. He reiterated that MQM is determined to counter these conspiracies under the leadership of its leader Mr. Altaf Hussain. He also demanded of the highest ranking law-enforcing officials of Pakistan for a high level probe into this and all similar incidents. Those who also spoke at the meeting include the Joint Incharge MQM Chicago Asif Saleem and Jamil Khan. At the end of the meeting prayers were offered for the victims of the incident by Hameedullah Khan.
