Communication & Media Cell, MQM USA; Los Angeles; February 21, 2010: The workers and office-bearers of MQM Los Angeles teamed up with the community based organization South Asian network (SAN), on Sunday, February 21st, 2010, supporting its Community Health Action Initiative (CHAI) Health Fair. To show solidarity with CHAI, Ishtiaq Hasan, Neelofar Zaidi, and others from MQM Los Angeles volunteered in the Health Fair organized by SAN. Certified phlebotomists were available to assist doctors and physicians by drawing blood for physical tests and further assessments. The Health Fair, actually turned out to be a very successful healthcare outreach; where professionals from the medical community volunteered in promoting awareness and prevention, educating in the various South Asian communities about issues such as cancer, tobacco, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, low cost health insurance and other related issues that the South Asian community faces. Supervision of children was provided while parents received medical attention. Members of SAN thanked the workers and office-bearers of MQM for volunteering their time and effort to show solidarity in community concerns. The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and United States Census 2010 also participated in the event.
