MQM New York Unit commemorates and celebrates the 28th Foundation Day of APMSO in a unique way by arranging a grand Bar B Q event. This grand Bar B Q event was arranged on last Sunday June 11th. 2006 at Flushing Meadows Corona park in queens form mid-day till well after sunset.

The attendance of the event was to the tune of 300 plus community members from tri-state area including member of Central Organizing Committee Khalida shuja, workers, supporters and general public which manifested a beautiful mix of people coming from all factions of life such as media, business, medicine, computer world, legal services and veterans of the Haq Parast community. On this 28th foundation day celebration of the APMSO, also present were two former APMSO chairmen Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mateen Yousuf.

While everybody enjoyed the grill they were also served with fast food, home made dishes, desserts and soft drinks. Youth wing also arranged sports events for the kids and youth of the community. While the sports events were enjoyed by the youth the veteran MQM workers and supporters were also seen playing cricket with the youth remembering the period of their own youth.

Those who spoke at the occasion were Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Bhai, Member Central Organizing Committte Khalida Shuja Baji, Incharge Youth Wing MQM USA Aneeba Siddiqui, In-charge New York Unit Anwar Bhai, Joint In-charges New York Unit Anjum Bhabhi and Osama Hasasn Bhai and in-charge Youth Wing New York Maliha Khan.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Bhai congratulated the Haq Parast Community on 28th Foundation Day of APMSO and compared the youth of Pakistani community in North America with the youth of APMSO.

Unit Incharge Anwar Bhai said that very rarely we see that the young generation gives something to the older generation but 28 years ago the youth of APMSO gave a phenomenal political venue to the older generation of Urdu speaking community in Pakistan and soon after the dreams started coming true in the shape of MQM which was then a by-product of APMSO.

The event ended with Foundation Day cake cutting ceremony carried out by the members of Youth Wing.
