This is more probable than not, that this was the first time that MQM New York had such a diverse congregation which was attended by a cross section from the Pakistani community including people representing all factions and ethnicity. The congregation was held in a local hotel, to commemorate “YAUM E SHUHADA’ “which was also attended by Sindhi Haq Parast MNA from Karachi Mr. Nisar Ahmed Panhwar. The attendance of the gathering was to the tune of 150 and was a beautiful mix of people from all five cultures of Pakistan including Punjabi, Sindhi, Pushto, Balochi and Muhajir nationalities. Mr. Nisar Ahmed Panhwar addressed the congregation and elaborated on the philosophy behind the metamorphosis of MQM from Muhajir Quami Movement to Muttahida Quami Movement emphasizing on the fact that MQM represents the 98% oppressed Pakistani people and not only Urdu speaking community. Mr. Nisar Ahmed Panhwar also shared the experience of working in Kashmir during last Earthquake and apprised the audience of efforts put in by MQM workers and the appreciation from the victims of Earthquake. Mr. Nisar Ahmed Panhwar and Nigran e Aala, MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui also answered the questions from the audience on various issues pertaining to Pakistan, its geo-political situation, and upcoming elections and MQM’s attitude towards these issues. The event culminated at dinner during which Mr. Nisar Ahmed Panhwar and Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui still remained busy in answering the questions and concerns of the audience.
