MQM Saint Louis Unit Volunteers Its Services at an Ashura Event (Feb-17-06)

For the first time in the USA followers of both the Ahlal-sunnat and Ahlal-shiat Ullema gathered together in Saint Louis to commemorate the martyrdom of the Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In the history of the USA these scholars jointly participated in the commemoration of YUM-E-HUSSAIN in Saint Luis which was organized by Ghawar-e-Adab, USA in the month of Muharam-ul-haram. This program is the true sprit of Ithat-e-Muslimeen. In this occasion Shia and Sunni muslim brothers in Islam jointly together fulfilled the important verse of Quran “All Muslims hold the rope of GOD and do not discriminate eachother.”

This program was held in the local Hotel Econolodge. The program was started with verses of the Quran and after that Naat, Noah, and Salam was read by Mohd Riaz,Aiman Rizvi, Jamal Kizmi, Sibtain Hamid, and AbidAli.

MQM North America Central Coordinate Member Moeed Siddiqui started the program and stated that we started our New Year with prayers not with parties. He also highlighted the importance of Yum-e-Hussain and explained the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain and his companion whose sacrifices were still an important part of the history of mankind. He said the sacrifices of Imam Hussain clearly explain that Hazarat Imam Hussain was not only exemplary for Muslims but also for the whole of mankind.

Addressing the program Dr. Zafar Iqbal Noori said that the battle of Kerbala was not only a battle against tyranny and injustice, it was also a struggle against the forces of ignorance and was in fact a search for the true meaning of Islam. Maulana Tilmiz Hasnain Rizvi added by saying that this program was organized for the first time in the USA to promote communal harmony and to reflect upon the example set by Imam Hussain together in collaborative manner. He further elaborated by making a point that Gehwar-e-Adab was the first organization that was striving for sectarian harmony and unity and praised its efforts. Maulana Tilmiz Hasnain Rizvi stated that Karbala begins with the notion of sacrifice and martyrdom and ends on them as well.

During the program, Salaam-e-Akhir was read and Tabarruk was distributed to the participants of the event.
