SUN USA Spokesperson; Washington DC; December 10, 2011: The office-bearers, workers, and volunteers of SUN USA braved the rough weather in the Mid-West and Northeast and held Food Drives across US for the indigent and homeless people in the Holiday Season. The food drive was launched in all major cities including Washington DC, Baltimore, and Connecticut. In Baltimore, SUN USA in collaboration with Harford Family House that provides shelter to homeless families, arranged a grand dinner event for more than sixty families who take refuge in Harford Family House in Aberdeen, MD on Thanksgiving Day. The dinner event was organized at Grove Presbyterian Church in the city of Aberdeen, Maryland and was also attended by the team of office-bearers, workers, and volunteers of SUN USA . In Connecticut the food was served by the workers and volunteers of SUN USA in a shelter home in Friend ship Service Center, Connecticut. The event was highly participated by the women and youth of SUN Connecticut and a large number of poor, needy, homeless were served with meals for several hours. In Washington DC, Sun Charity USA keeps its tradition alive by visiting a local shelter home and an orphanage to feed the hungry and the needy. Sun Charity Women Wing participated in organizing the effort, collecting and distributing the food items. Sun charity’s effort was wholeheartedly appreciated by the management of ACTS Shelter Home in Northern Virginia. Sun Charity has been doing the food drive on annual basis in Virginia and other States. A large number of volunteers including women and children play a key role in these drives. Executive Director of SUN USA Ibad Rehman has said that SUN USA is committed to the human service and what could be better service than to make those people happy in Holiday Season when they feel alienated and abandoned. The Executive Director also said that SUN USA’s agenda of human service goes beyond Holiday Season and it will continue to serve the needy, poor, indigent, and homeless at the time of need and whenever they need. |
