History & Politics of Sindh
For months now Karachi has been engulfed in violence. It is imperative that the
government sorts things out. Military interventions are never desirable. But
then neither are continuing chaos and the disruption of life. Our most urgent
need at the moment is to bring this anarchy to an end any way we can. Karachi,
as the country’s commercial capital, is obviously significant in more ways than
one. It is also true that at least major political parties in the city have
already called for army intervention.

Talibans: From Kabul To Karachi……A strategic Movement!
They say spill drops by the side of the container. But not always! It can drop
far from the container under the demand of the strategy. Talibans, unanimously
evaluated equivalent to terrorism by media, peace loving, and diplomatic circles

northern Pakistan.

' Rockets, guile and the lessons of history: the Taleban besiege Kabul '
The
lorry drivers who bring the Pepsi and petrol for NATO troops in Kabul have their
own way of calculating the Taliban’s progress towards the Afghan capital: they
simply count the lorries destroyed on the main roads.

' Important lesson for Ex Chief Justice '
Self-respect is a question of recognizing that anything worth having has a
price. Ex Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry should learn lesson from the
resignation of Pervaiz Musharraf. For the sake of country and country's
political stability he should withdraw his name from the restoring of Judges
Movement.

"Best Support '
In last
elections the nation voted political parties to see unity and communal harmony,
not for any division or communality. On August 19, MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain
announced his support to Asif Zardari. He said in his televised interview that "Zardari
should be Pakistan President".

THE ‘TALIBANIZATION’ OF PAKISTAN’S
BIGGEST CITY
KARACHI, Pakistan – In the back of a jeep
driving through Karachi, a sign on the wall of
the city’s famous "Village Restaurant" caught my
eye. It was just a little piece of frayed white
paper plastered next to the restaurant’s much
bigger logo, tempting customers to "Experience
the Exotic of Traditional Dining."

Why Pakistan
Matters
TIME
Magazine
Desperate to shore up Musharraf, the Bush
Administration blessed an unlikely plan: bring
back Bhutto. Educated at Radcliffe and Oxford,
with friends studded throughout the media and
government élites of both the U.S. and Britain,
the first-ever female leader of a modern Islamic
state had left Pakistan just before Musharraf
came to power in 1999.

United against
the wrong enemy
From The
Economist print edition
IF PAKISTAN’S leaders had ever united against
Islamist militancy as they have against India
over the past three weeks, their country would
not be the violent mess that it is. Ever since
India alleged, with subsequent corroboration
from America and Britain, that Pakistani
terrorists carried out last month’s mass murder
in Mumbai, the country’s politicians, generals
and fire-breathing journalists have been
declaring themselves ready for war—if that’s
what India chooses.
